The 2034 World Cup will be hosted by Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia is set to host the 2034 World Cup. This position has been prepared after Australia, which is another contender to host the tournament, withdrew its name on Tuesday. Football Australia has decided to withdraw just before the end of the official time to submit a claim to the International Football Federation (FIFA).
Now Saudi Arabia is the only claimant. Football Australia has said, "We have now decided not to claim the 2034 World Cup." Australia has said that it wants to focus on the 2026 AFC Women's Cup and the 2026 Club World Cup. The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) will also fully support the
Saudi Arabian bid and Saudi Arabia has become the only strong choice to host the World Cup. Australia hosted the Women's World Cup together with New Zealand this year. FIFA wants each World Cup to be held on a different continent.
The 2026 World Cup is being hosted by the US, Canada and Mexico.
The 2030 World Cup will be held in six countries on three continents. Spain, Portugal and Morocco are the joint hosts, while the first three matches of the tournament are being held in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. Since the World Cup started in Montevideo, Uruguay 100 years ago, some matches of the 2030 edition are going to be held in three countries in South America.
